Day 131 - I can’t wait for summer

Melbourne had a glorious, sunny and beautiful day today and today had me in anticipation for our up and coming summer.

Anybody and everybody who really knows me, knows how much I loathe and despise summer. I have always hated it and I am known for hibernating in summer and dodging all invites, outings every single occasion I would hide away.

Why do I hate the heat so much? Well I have extremely sensitive skin (which is totally ironic as I am olive skinned) but I get red itchy blotches all over my skin, in other words I suffer from extreme heat rash. My breathing is always laboured and I tend to gasp for air when its really hot. I also suffer from eczema (which sadly my gorgeous god-daughter also suffers from and I hate watching her scratch) with eczema and my scratching if one more person tells me not to scratch I will turn around and scratch their eyes out. The itch is insane and unbearable and scratching seriously brings the only relief. I get eczema in some very weird places and it will also make sense as to why I wear long flowy skirts in summer as my skin weeps so much that if clothes even touch my skin make me wanna cry in aggravation. It aint fun.

I also have a lot of allergies to pollen, grass (hay fever) that sort of dodges me in spring but hits me with a vengeance in summer. Bloody bizarre. I tend to overheat so much that my heart starts to race.

Also being overweight is hard no matter what season we are in but when summer arrives for us fatties it’s a lot harder. Its not like we can strip down to a bikini top and shorts right? If you are overweight and do strip down then I stand up and applaud you for being so gutsy. I personally could never do it. Being overweight makes me sweat like a pig and I hate feeling so icky and sticky.

I remember being out with friends and sitting outdoors in the summer evenings at a restaurant and standing up form my chair and having my skirt wedge itself right up my arsehole and a huge wet patch from perspiration alone. Then looking down at my chair and seeing a huge sweat patch. It’s bloody humiliating.

So having experienced the dreaded Summer Mishaps for past 10 plus years I can now say that I am actually looking forward to the heat and summer. I am a long way off being skinny and being able to comfortably wear shorts, singlets and thongs out and about but at least this summer will be the beginning of my pleasant and bearable summers.

I also can’t wait to go down to one of my favorite spots in Melbourne, that being St Kilda and just walk and cruise around the beach.

I'm with you there Babe! I also suffer from MS which makes you even hotter! I can't wait till I can bear to go and by myself a pair of bathers! I was such a beach girl as a kid - now I'm just a beached whale!

Only 4 more months till my surgery - so this will hopefully be my last summer of ickiness!!!!! Yay!

Hi Love!! I"m back!! Come down to St Kildy and visit me.... It's getting so beautiful, I was down on Acland having coffee last night and didn't even need a jumper as the sun was going down!

I never wear singlets and feel really self-conscious about my upper arms, don't wear bikinis but dammit I love the lack of clothing in summer, even just the breeze on my bare legs.... And this summer things are going to happen so I've started using the Johnson's summer glow already!

Next summer, see us all on the beach in our bikinis hey?

Ooh speaking of which I'm looking for scar-disappear remedies in anticipation of said bikini!!

Yep, totally hearing you about the summer thing girl. I too get eczema, on the back of my neck and in my hair... I can't wear black tops... if I scratch, it looks like it's been snowing on my shoulders.. I HATE it!

Just a question... how much weight have you lost? What are your stats... you haven't put anything up about that... I'm just curious cos you're doing SO well!

rish, i have heard bio-oil works to get rid of scars and stretch marks? im going to invest in some :)a friend used it on boobs 5 years after having her kid and it worked on that aswell!! I have a MASSIVE appendix scar tho so i wont be a bikini girl, unless i get ringbarked and they take it off, thats the only way, i hate it with a passion, its seriously over 10 cms long and is crockered (cant spell it sorry haha)
